Health Coaching and Behavioral Change

“In a year of working with Sydney, I quit smoking and starting cooking for myself for the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE. But really what changed was my own belief in my ability to care for me. I’d always thought of coaching being like middle school basketball or bootcamp. Now I get that being harsher with myself doesn’t mean getting healthier. This experience helped me trust that I can actually do things to make myself feel good.” - February, 2016

New Years Resolution: Making Peace with Your Body

You’ve attempted on every diet on Oprah… and had the experience of shame, anxiety and exhaustion when you couldn’t follow or even remember the rules.

This New Year’s you can write a NEW story. Intuitive eating is about learning to respect your body and tune into your inner wisdom. Cultivating a loving relationship with your body can lead to taking care of yourself in a more sustainable way.

But respecting your body can be difficult if:

  • Your family or partners have been disapproving or abusive about your body.

  • You have a history of dieting or disordered eating.

  • You’ve been using an abusive voice to talk to yourself about your body for so long you can’t imagine it getting easier.

  • You find yourself eating or restricting to self soothe when you’re triggered or in pain in other areas of your life.

  • You hate the idea of taking care of yourself or even being in tune with or feeling what your body needs.

  • You constantly compare your body to other peoples bodies and don’t want to look at or move in your body at all.

  • You’ve recovered (or are recovering) from an eating disorder or an environment where exercise was used as punishment.

You deserve to find ways to care for yourself that are sustainable and create joy and flexibility in your life. Integrative trauma therapy can help you rewriting the stories you’ve been told about your body and to release body shame and fears around food. EMDR can help you manage intense emotions and reconnect with with your inner guidance system.

In addition to intuitive eating, this group offers opportunities for engaging in short self parenting meditations, journaling, “urge surfing”, mindful movement, breathing exercises, and cognitive behavioral strategies for recognizing core beliefs and working with emotions.

All of my current health related offerings are weight inclusive. Learn more about my philosophy here.
